We both know the Committee will never give the public an honest answer
Honestly having so many teams from 1 conference in the Top 10 baffles me. Since the power conferences don't play enough regular season games against each other the sample size is extremely small in determining the pecking order. So how does the Committee truly know that a conference win in the Big Ten is "worth more" than in the ACC, Big XII, Pac-12, or SEC?
It seems to me that the Committee may behaving very similar to pollsters in how their first poll (even if it was in the middle of the season) can still have great influence on their final regular season poll. Plus, the Committee gives itself wiggle room to arbitrarily decide when to use the stock answers of "Because of how Team A played last week" or "Because of how Team A played during the season up to this point in time" to justify why a team received a certain ranking. A voter could use 1 answer to justify 1 team and the other answer to justify a different team in the poll.
